May God open doors for you to be His witness to your family, friends and co-workers “for such a time as this!”
“For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this?” Esther 4:14
Dear Family,
These words to Queen Esther from her uncle Mordecai have great relevance to believers today. The threat of total annihilation of the Jewish nation was real and Mordecai reminded Esther of her position and influence as queen. He appealed to her sense of duty to help save the Jewish race and referred to the strong possibility that her position as queen may have been sovereignly planned by God, even though God is not mentioned. We are in the middle of our sermon and small group series, “How to Contend For The Faith.” We’ve been learning practical ways how followers of Jesus can contend for the faith in the different aspects of our lives.
Scripture states that believers have the treasure of the gospel in earthen vessels, our human bodies, to show that the power of God to change lives lies with Him, not us. But God uses our testimony and the words of the gospel we share with others to help them come to know His plan for their lives. Of course, this plan is for everyone to come to a knowledge of the truth and be saved. The Bible also states that, “We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us” (2 Cor 5:20). The reason that it’s “as though God were making His appeal through us” is that He IS!
You and I have different areas of influence because we are around different groups of people who need to hear about Jesus. We are in different families, we work with different people, we socialize with others, we may be attending different schools or colleges. The point is that we are scattered throughout our world among different people who all have the same need…to be saved. We are where we are to share the truth about God “for such a time as this.” Think about that for a minute. God may have sovereignly placed you where you are because you have a message the people near you need to hear.
The truth is that everyone who doesn’t yet know Jesus needs to hear about Him, and we have this “treasure” to share. With so much deception, misinformation and distortion about God and His Word in our world, true believers are called to speak the truth in love and in so doing we contend for the true faith of scripture. May God open doors for you to be His witness to your family, friends and co-workers “for such a time as this!”
In His Strength,
Glenn
